#HandcraftedEdibles2015: Tipsy Cherries

These "adult" chocolate covered cherries are a tradition at our house, brought to any adult Christmas gathering.  They are super simple to make, but require a bit of time soaking in the vodka goodness, so this is a fabulous time to get started on them!

I hope you are getting a lot of ideas for Christmas goodies to give to others for the holiday.  We are having a great time posting these ideas for you!

These are easy to make, they just need some time in order to soak up the alcohol.

Tipsy Cherries
1 jar maraschino cherries with stems
1 bottle cherry vodka
1 lb favorite melting chocolate (Godiva dark is awesome!)

Drain cherry juice from the cherries in the jar. Refill the jar with the cherry vodka. Let rest for 5 days up to 6 weeks.

Drain vodka from the jar. Place cherries on several paper towels to dry, but do not squeeze.

Melt chocolate in microwave, at one minute intervals, stirring between minutes. Dip cherries by their stem into the chocolate. Set on paper towels to harden.  Sometimes the stems are fragile, so take care!

Definitely NOT for children!

We usually wrap these up in a small tupperware type container, lined with paper towels to absorb whatever goodness might leak out.  They are a great hostess gift for a cocktail party!

In an effort to make all of her holiday gifts this year, Camilla at Culinary Adventures with Camilla invited some of her favorite foodie bloggers to share recipes for hand-crafted edibles. Over the course of twelve weeks, we'll be sharing recipes from adorable jarred gifts (last week's theme) to cookie platters and everything in between. Hope you'll follow along for inspiration. You can find out more information, including the schedule: here.

This week, we're continuing our homemade libations - here's the first installment that kicked off the series,  Libations, Part I - and here we are at Part II.

  1. I love boozy fruit! I think I'll try this with maraschino liqueur. Thanks for joining us this week, Terri!

  2. Oh that sounds delicious. I wonder how it would taste using Amaretto? I am trying that.
