Today we were to feature an ornament made with DecoArt paints, but I had another idea, and I pulled it off! That was to have a rock painting party with some of my friends. In our town, and in towns all over the United States, there is a movement called (Your town) Rocks! Mine is called New Town Rocks, and Brookfield's would be Brookfield Rocks. The idea behind this is to paint adorable rocks, hide them around town for people to find. These are acts of kindness, no expectations at all. You may keep the rock, or hide it for someone else.
Hosting a rock painting party is fun and easy. First, find a date, a place to paint and invite your friends! Next, gather supplies for painting, like DecoArt paints, brushes, cups of water, and a mat to dab your brush. The friend who helped me painted the base coat on the rocks so that we didn't have to wait for that coat to dry.
On the night of the party, we set up spots for each of the painters. After a little direction from my friend, we looked at books and Pinterest for inspiration. Once we made our decisions, we sat down to paint. I decided to paint this adorable Santa on a silver rock.
I found the likeness on Pinterest, drew it on the rock with a chalk pencil, then filled in the rest with paints. I used the DecoArt glitter paint for a festive look!
We had a ball at the rock painting party. I learned from my friends that their kids love painting rocks for the neighborhood. So for a Christmas gift, I put together a rock, three colors of DecoArt paint and a brush as a kit for my great-nieces and nephews. I know they will love painting their rocks!
