I am sharing the tree we decorate for my daughter's bedroom. My daughter is married and comes home fairly often but we always want to make her room very special when she visits for Christmas. This year is even more important for us. Two weeks ago, two days after moving into their first home, the flat below them caught fire and destroyed four homes, including hers. Now they are living in temporary housing, for up to 12 months, while their home is restored, rebuilt and refurbished. It is a living nightmare for them. Thankfully, everyone in their family was safe, even though their beloved dog Huxley had to be rescued.
Since we moved into our home in 2013, our kids have called our home The Resort. We live by a lake, so we named our home Lakeside Resort. The tree in our daughter's room has a beachy feel, as the neighborhood we live in is called The Beach District (in New Town at Saint Charles.) We decorate it with family ornament collections, silver bells and a Hallmark series called the 12 Days of Christmas, and beach ornaments that we collect from vacations. Let's take a closer look!
Our newest coast ornament was handmade for us! |
My first tip is to select a theme. It is really a great way to focus your ornament collections and to highlight something that you truly love. In addition to the coastal tree, this year I have a travel tree and a pink ribbon tree. It is also an awesome answer to the question, "What can I get you?" 💖
