One of the things I love doing throughout the holidays is watching Christmas movies. I particularly love the Hallmark Movie selection but that isn't something that my husband enjoys as much as I do. That being said, though, he does love making me happy, so once a season I plan a Romantic Christmas Movie Date Night for the two of us.
I always include the following: a Christmas cocktail, a movie snack, a fun game to play as we watch the movie and some kind of matching attire!
Here are my choices for this year!
Our traditional Christmas cocktail this year will Rum Splashed Eggnog. We always make my mom's eggnog recipe, then add a splash of spiced rum to the glass. We always make the eggnog without any liquor, so we can save it if we don't manage to drink it all.
The movie snack is so important. I am low carb and my husband likes low calorie. We both have decided to give a bit on our snack, so we are making one of our all time favorites: Antipasta Skewers.
These are so simple, and can serve as meal if you want. So simple to make: cherry tomatoes, tiny mozzarella balls, black olives, salami, and quartered artichoke hearts. Using 12" wooden skewers, add a tomato, mozzarella ball, salami, black olive and artichoke. Repeat until you have used all the ingredients. I add a small bowl of Italian or Ranch dressing to dip in.
The game I chose to make this year is Hallmark Christmas Movie Bingo. I have purchased $10 gift cards to Starbucks, a local bakery and a local restaurant for prizes. It's always more fun with prizes! You can make a copy of this game for your own personal use, but please do not mass produce it or sell it.
One of the hardest things to do is to pick the movie! I like to choose a movie that is new to the year, so here is a list of 2020 new Hallmark Christmas movies!
If we decide we want to do a date night away from home, we love going to Painting with a Twist. Have you gone to their classes? If not, I highly recommend that you do. We choose a painting, each of us do one, and we give one to our daughter and keep one for ourselves. Soooo much fun!
